ISRO NRSC Recruitment 2026: Apply for 48 Research Scientist, Project Scientist, Project Associate & JRF Posts

The National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC), a primary centre of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) under the Department of Space, has released Advt. No. NRSC/RMT/1/2026 dated 01.08.2026, inviting online applications for 48 temporary Research Personnel posts at its Balanagar, Hyderabad headquarters and regional centres.

1. Research Scientist (RS)

  1. RS20 (03 posts): M.E./M.Tech in Civil Engineering (Water Resources/Hydrology/Irrigation Water Management) with B.E./B.Tech in Civil/Agriculture Engineering

Note: For post codes JRF30 to JRF35, candidates must additionally hold a Post Graduate degree selected through NET-CSIR-UGC (including lectureship/Assistant Professorship)/GATE, or through a national-level exam conducted by DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc., with a valid score card in the relevant discipline.

Salary/Emoluments:

  1. Research Scientist (RS20 - RS25): ₹56,100 + HRA + DA (as per Govt. of India norms)

  2. Project Associate-I (PAI - 06): ₹31,000 + HRA

  3. Project Associate-II (PAII - 02, PAII-03): ₹35,000 + HRA

  4. Project Scientist-I (PSI - 06): ₹56,000 + HRA

  5. Project Scientist-B (PSB03 - PSB06): ₹56,000 (5% increment every two years, subject to performance review) + HRA

  6. Junior Research Fellow (JRF30 - JRF35): ₹37,000, with possibility of enhancement to ₹42,000 as SRF after 2 years, subject to review + HRA

Additional benefits: HRA (if accommodation not provided) at prescribed rates; maternity leave for women candidates as per Government of India instructions; medical benefits for self as per NRSC/ISRO rules. Selected candidates are not entitled to any other benefits/concessions admissible to regular employees, and the above provisions are subject to change per Government policy.

Place of Posting:

  • Selected candidates will work at Hyderabad or Shadnagar (Rangareddy District), or at the technical facility indicated against the post.

  • They may also be required to serve at other NRSC campuses/RRSCs at Delhi, Bengaluru, Nagpur, Kolkata, and Jodhpur, and may be posted anywhere in India under the Department of Space/ISRO as per the terms of appointment.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • M.E./M.Tech: Aggregate minimum 60% or CGPA/CPI 6.5 (10-point scale)

  • M.Sc/M.Sc Tech: Aggregate minimum 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI 6.84 (10-point scale)

  • B.E./B.Tech: Aggregate minimum 65% (average of all semesters) or CGPA/CPI 6.84 (10-point scale)

  • B.Sc: Minimum 60% marks or CGPA of 6.5 (10-point scale)

Age Limit (as on last date of application: 21.08.2026):

  • JRF: 28 years (UR/EWS), 31 years (OBC), 33 years (SC/ST)

  • RS (M.Sc based): 28 years (UR/EWS), 31 years (OBC), 33 years (SC/ST)

  • RS (M.Tech based): 30 years (UR/EWS), 33 years (OBC), 35 years (SC/ST)

  • PA-I, PA-II, PS-I, PS-B: 35 years (UR/EWS), 38 years (OBC), 40 years (SC/ST)

Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are eligible for upper age relaxation as per Government of India orders, subject to producing relevant certificates.

Tenure of Positions:

  • The posts are purely temporary for a period of one year (subject to project validity), extendable based on performance review or co-terminus with the project - whichever is earlier.
  • JRF and RS posts can be extended up to a maximum of five years.
  • Selected candidates have no claim to regular appointment in NRSC/ISRO/Department of Space, and NRSC reserves the right to terminate services at any time without notice.

Application Fee Details:

Selection Process:

  1. Fulfilling the minimum qualification does not automatically qualify a candidate for interview. NRSC reserves the right to screen applications and set additional shortlisting criteria as needed.
  2. Screened-in/shortlisted candidates will be called for interview before a Selection Committee.
  3. Communication to shortlisted candidates is sent only via registered email; no correspondence is entertained on shortlisting decisions.
  4. The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the NRSC website.
