Amazon SDE I Internship 2027: Overview

Amazon University Talent Acquisition is hiring Software Development Engineer (SDE I) Interns for the 2027 graduating batch. This is a 6-month, full-time, in-person internship running between January and June 2027, open to students currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with a graduation year of 2027. Interns will work across Amazon's India locations including Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, and Delhi, with applications considered for all India hiring locations including Mumbai.

Role: Software Development Engineer (SDE I) Intern

Batch Eligible: 2027 Graduating Batch only

Locations: Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune, Delhi (application considered for all India hiring locations, including Mumbai)

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must belong to the 2027 graduating batch
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field at the time of application
• Should be available for a full-time, 24 - 26 week internship with a start date between January and June 2027
• Must be able to commit full-time during the internship - no conflicting academic projects, classes, or other internships/employment allowed during this period
• Exam-related conflicts must be disclosed to the hiring manager in advance to plan for absence
• A signed declaration of availability for the full internship duration, certified by a competent university authority, is required before the offer is confirmed

Key Job Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with experienced, cross-disciplinary Amazonians to conceive, design, and bring innovative products and services to market
• Design and build innovative technologies in a large distributed computing environment, contributing to fundamental changes in the industry
• Create solutions to run predictions on distributed systems, working with technologies at large scale and speed
• Build distributed storage, indexing, and query systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, low-cost, and easy to manage
• Design and code solutions starting from broadly defined problems
• Work in an agile environment to deliver high-quality software

Basic Qualifications:

• Knowledge of computer science fundamentals: object-oriented design, operating systems, algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis
• Knowledge of programming languages such as C/C++, Python, Java, or Perl
• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, with Year of Graduation 2027

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of distributed, multi-tiered systems, algorithms, and relational databases
• Experience in optimization mathematics such as linear programming and nonlinear optimization
• Experience explaining complex technical concepts to both business and technical audiences
• Experience dealing with ambiguity, prioritizing needs, and delivering measurable results in an agile environment
• Previous technical internship(s)

Internship Duration & Timelines:

• Internship length: 24-26 consecutive weeks (approximately 6 months)
• Start dates: Between January and June 2027
• Commitment: Full-time (40 hours/week); no parallel academic or employment commitments permitted during the internship
• Specific working-hour norms will be communicated by the hiring/reporting manager at the start of the internship
• Offer is subject to successful submission of a signed availability declaration from a competent university authority
