India Post GDS Recruitment 2025 Notification Released for 21,413 Vacancies

Applications are invited from the eligible candidates to fill the vacant posts of Gramin Dak Sevaks (GDSs) [i.e. Branch Postmaster (BPM)/Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevaks] in different offices of the Department of Posts.

Total Number of Vacancies (Across India): 21,413

Number of Vacancies in Kerala: 1,385

Job Details:

1. Branch Postmaster (BPM)

Responsibilities:

• Day-to-day postal operations of Branch Post Office (B.O) and India Post Payments Bank (IPPB)
• Marketing and promotion of postal products and services
• Overall responsibility for smooth functioning of the office, including mail conveyance and delivery
• Performing combined duties of ABPM(s) when required
• Accommodation must be provided for the Branch Post Office after selection

2. Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)

Responsibilities:

• Sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and handling IPPB transactions
• Assisting BPM in postal operations
• Marketing and promotion of products and services
• Performing combined duties of BPM when required
• Residence within the delivery jurisdiction of the Post Office is mandatory

3. Dak Sevaks

Responsibilities:

• Sale of stamps/stationery, mail delivery, and IPPB transactions
• Working in sorting offices of Railway Mail Service (RMS)
• Assisting Postmasters/Sub Postmasters in postal operations
• Residence within the delivery jurisdiction of the Post Office is mandatory

Emoluments & Allowances:

The monthly salary for the newly recruited Gram Dak Sevak, determined by the India Post Office, is paid as Time Related Continuity Allowance (TRCA), with a starting salary of Rs. 10,000/- to Rs. 12,000/-

Job Categories & TRCA Slab:

• BPM: ₹12,000 - ₹29,380

• ABPM/Dak Sevak: ₹10,000 - ₹24,470

Eligibility Criteria

Age Limit: 18 to 40 years (Relaxation applicable for reserved categories)

Educational Qualification:

• 10th standard pass with Mathematics and English from a recognized board
• Must have studied the local language up to the 10th standard

Other Qualifications:

• Knowledge of computers
• Knowledge of cycling
• Adequate means of livelihood
